It’s scaring you.
You know what is. Something you want to do? Maybe. Someone you want to be? Perhaps.
Whatever it is, it’s here. It’s staring you right in the face, and with it are all of your doubts.
Could I ever actually do this? What would they say? What if I can’t do it perfectly? What if I fail?
You know your comfort zone, that little circle that we draw that encompasses everything that we think is “safe?” Mine is drawn right outside my toes.
I’m an introvert. Some people crave hardship. Me? Not so much. 🙂 Anything that is difficult or the slightest bit risky is completely out of character for me. I love hot drinks and good books and relaxing walks by the beach and looking at pretty things. Unless I’ve had too many cups of coffee, you can count me out of pretty much anything adrenaline inducing. 😉
I don’t like scary.
But here’s the thing, y’all. Scary is good.
Scary means that it’s bigger than you. Scary means that it’s uncomfortable. Scary means that it’s not going to be easy, and you’ll have to work at it to make it a reality.
Because you know? Amazing things don’t just “happen.” Amazing things take time, dedication, and a step of faith. For every incredible thing you see around you, someone somewhere made a decision to take a deep breath, close their eyes, and jump.
I’m twenty-one and this world is a big place and there are plenty of things that scare me. College. Relationships. Pressure at work. Bills and expenses and ahh JUST THIS WHOLE ADULT THING!? But there are two things I can remember when I want to go hide under a blanket.
1. Life is 100% what you make of it, and no one else will live your life for you.
2. HARDSHIP makes you stronger.
So whatever you do, don’t let fear hold you back. Don’t give up on your dreams.
That thing you’re scared of?
It’s probably a good thing to try.
Now go make something amazing.
