Sometimes all we need is a simple wall decor idea to complete a look. With book pages and cute shapes, you can transform that blank wall into something beautiful!
Remember those Valentine’s hearts we would cut out of red and pink construction paper in elementary school? 😉 Who would have thought we could put to use those awesome cutting skills for grown-up wall art?!
I am NOT the craftiest person on the planet, but I am a book lover and when I threw this together a few weeks ago for my office wall I couldn’t believe how much I loved it! When I posted this picture on Instagram and had sweet friends loving them too, I thought it might be fun to share the idea with you. These pretty little things are SO easy and SO quick they don’t even need a tutorial, but hey. 😉
How to Make Simple 3D Hearts for Your Wall
You will need…
- A book you can repurpose
- Tape or adhesive
I saved a novel with slightly yellowed pages from being tossed, and the “antique” touch was perfect!
And it’s exactly like we did in craft class. 🙂 Take a few pages and fold them in half… (I used 4-5 pages, but I didn’t mind having all my hearts the same size.)
Use scissors to cut a half-heart shape along the folded edge. If you can get your half-heart perfect the first time, good for you! 😉 Mine needed the top to be trimmed a bit after I opened them up!
Open half-hearts to reveal…whole hearts!
To make sure the shapes stay “3D,” I like to crease them again.
Attach adhesive to the back creased edge of each heart. What you use will depend on how temporary you’re looking your wall art to be, but I just used tape to create a double-sided adhesive.
I attached a piece to the upper back of each, which you can see a little bit of below. 🙂
Press 3D hearts onto wall in desired arrangement. I like to imagine them as “flying away.” 🙂
And voila! You are done!
I’m telling you, it’s the simplest thing EVER but I just loved the way it turned out for me. It was the perfect touch to finish up my neutral office space.
So! What do you think about cutting up books? Will you be making Valentine-hearts for your wall anytime soon? 😉 I’d love to hear your thoughts below! 😀
HAPPY WEEKEND, and happy cutting! 😉
